What is a commune? While communal structures are commonly associated with more anarchist or autonomist political projects, the commune has historically been a key element of socialist construction. In part 1 of this 6-part series, we recover an understanding of communes as located within a process of socialist transition.

On March 8th, we honour working-class, feminist struggles against gendered oppression, violence, and exploitation under patriarchy, capitalism, and imperialism. We must cultivate strength, determination, tenderness, and joy for the struggles ahead for the liberation of people of all genders. Let us together water the seedlings of a feminist, eco-socialist future.

Love is in the air, and marked by contradiction. Under capitalism, it is a primary site of exploitation and harm — privatised, commodified, and harnessed to reproduce structural inequalities inside the home and beyond. At the same time, it is a basic human need, without which life would be impossible. As such, many revolutionaries throughout time have recognised its liberatory potential. To build for a better world, we must struggle for and practice a better love, expanded beyond scarcity and rooted in mutual flourishing.

Imperialism is a world system in which the US-led imperial core underdevelops peripheral states and denies them sovereign control over their own resources through economic and military coercion. Yet misconceptions about imperialism circulate widely in the Western left. Debunking them is essential for effective anti-imperialist struggle and for creating the conditions for eco-socialist transformation.

Billionaire overlords and neo-serfs. Is this our new reality? There has been a recent increase in Marxists questioning whether we have transitioned out of capitalism to a new form of feudalism. Prominent accounts include Technofeudalism by Yanis Varoufakis and Capital’s Grave by Jodi Dean. In this post, we critically examine these arguments and provide our own perspectives.

Communism is structured around working together to meet our basic needs, creating the conditions for genuine human and non-human liberation. It’s no utopia, but rather a concrete alternative that can realistically emerge out of a global socialist transition. A vision of the future is essential for guiding our struggles today. There is a world waiting to be born.

In the process of building mass social power for eco-socialist transition, the question of political organisation is central. In this brief, we identify the party as a key instrument for building such a social majority, unpacking its functions, activities, and structure.

The state is essential in constructing eco-socialism. In this brief, we define what 'the state' is, outline its role in eco-socialist transition, and analyse competing political theories.

Youth have always been at the forefront of liberation struggles. Understanding this history provides important lessons for the prospect of a united youth front, capable of leading the struggle for global eco-socialism.

In this brief, we define imperialism, colonialism, and neo-colonialism in relation to the capitalist world system. A strong analysis of these systems is essential for developing transformative organising strategies.
